Chelsea Health Fair Sept 28, 2013

The RSVP HERO gang did a Yellow Dot event at the Chelsea Health Fair. About 45 registrations completed, good mornings work. Very nice weather. Could have used a canopy since Dick had a very difficult time reading the printer display in the sun. We made most pictures with the people just under the canopy at the booth next to our table. Thanks for their putting up with us. But fun was had by all. Ron was happy, got both breakfast and BBQ lunch provided by the hosts. No serious sunburns for the morning that I have heard of.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Our group is a station operating under the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Shelby County Alabama. The coordinator for the group is Ron Howard (n4dle@aol.com). Feel free to contact him if you want more information or are interested in serving in this station.

SHELBY COUNTY RSVP provides senior volunteers 55+ for a variety of worthwhile and stimulating volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Volunteer recognition programs reward approximately 500 deserving senior volunteers annually at a Spring Banquet and Christmas party, as a thank you for many hours of volunteer work, which Shelby County could not do without. The core program for our group is Yellow Dot where a package with a photo, medical/contact info form, folder, and decal for the back window of the car is provided to each person participating. Over 3000 people have signed up for Yellow Dot in Shelby County.

Others programs we participate in include: Pelham Library Guild, Southeastern Outings, Frozen Tide Hockey team, Friends of Red Mountain Park, Shelby Iron Works Park, Osher Lifetime Learning Institute (OLLI), Confederate Memorial Park, TPARCA LunchBunch, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute ...

The group consists of retired telephone company employees, their friends, and neighbors. A number of the members are also amateur radio operators.
